Let me know what you need when you call or email and we'll discuss your requirements. Every job starts with a site visit and a written scope. We will review what's included, what isn't, and the price.
What I plow
- Farm lanes and yards, including the run to the barn
- Shared private roads, with one bill the neighbours split
- Church, hall and community lots that need to be open early on the day
- Shops, workshops, offices and storage yards
- Larger lots, and accounts with more than one property
Most sites are plowed on the route: once about 5 cm has fallen and again when the storm ends, in route order. Accounts under contract come ahead of one-time call-ins. Need a lot open by a set time? Tell me, and it gets its own plan and its own price.
Larger sites
Bigger lots, several properties on one account, or a site that has to be clear by a set time: each one is quoted on its own and run under a written contract. Every site gets the equipment and operators it calls for, and I manage the work myself. You deal with the owner from the first visit to the last invoice. Before Cedar Rail, I ran winter operations for more than a hundred properties a season. Tell me what the site needs, and I'll give you a straight answer on this winter. If the timing doesn't work, we plan for next winter.
How a commercial job works
- A site visit. We walk the lanes and the lot and agree where snow is stored, what must stay clear, and by when. I note the hazards.
- A written scope and a signed contract with Landscape Ontario's recommended standard inclusions. It sets the trigger depth, the order of work, what's included, what isn't, and the price.
- A dated log of every visit, with the time in and the time out. You can have a copy whenever you ask. It matters for your records as much as mine.
Pricing
Season pricing is available for lanes, lots and larger sites. Prices are plus HST. The laneway prices on this site are for homes; commercial sites are quoted.
Ask about a commercial quote
Tell me about the property and when it needs to be clear. I'll give you a straight answer, then a written quote after a site visit.
A commercial account needs three things from its plow contractor: a written scope, a clear trigger depth, and a log it can rely on. Ontario's Occupiers' Liability Act gives anyone hurt by snow or ice 60 days to give written notice to the property owner or the contractor. My visit log is kept with that in mind. A clear line on who handles ice protects us both.
